We are a cheerleading squad made up of homeschool young women, supporting the Wilco football team.

Vision:  A squad that wants to honor God and encourage the players of Wilco.  This will include learning appropriate chants and cheers and getting the crowd involved in rooting on the team.  Learning the game of football will be a must.  As this will be more of a pep squad than a competitive cheer squad, tricks and gymnastics will not be required.  (However, if someone can do them, we will encourage her to use those abilities!)

We will abide by the philosophy, mission, and vision set forth by the Wilco board of directors.

Commitment:  Cheerleaders must make every effort to show up to every cheer practice and every game each week.  Weekly cheer practice will most likely be held on Tuesdays, 5:00-7:00 pm, for the 2012 season.  Since the girls will be learning and practicing new cheers every week, failure to attend cheer practice will likely impact ability to cheer at the game.  We will also practice on Thursday nights for the first three weeks of August, 5:00-7:00.  Practice will be held at the same park in which the football players are practicing. 

The games are mostly out of town. Cheerleaders are responsible for their own  transportation to and from the games.  About half the games are in town.

Who can join:  Home-schooled young women, in grades 8-12 for the 2012-2013 school year.  All girls desiring to cheer will be given the opportunity to do so either on the JV or varsity squad.  8th grade girls will be placed on the JV squad.  All others will be placed on either the JV squad or the varsity squad based on ability displayed during cheerleading tryouts, held on March 24th and May 19th.  If a girl signs up after both tryout dates have passed, she will be placed on the JV squad.

Cost:  $230 Cheerleading outfit for new cheerleaders:  uniform, warm ups, hair bows, practice shirt, socks, water jug, and poms, which we will order .   (Cost to returning cheerleaders from 2011 who don't need a new uniform, warm ups, water jug, or socks will be $55.)  

               $20 Activity fee: Used for squad purchases                              

(Plan to spend an additional $30 dollars for shorts and cheer shoes from Academy.)

Cheer Camp:  March 19-March 23, with tryouts on Saturday, March 24th. Cost is $30. We will be holding cheer camp from 4 PM- 6 PM, Monday through Friday.  Girls will be learning cheers, jumps, and part of our upcoming year's half-time routine.  Come every day, or as many days as you can.  Then, on Saturday morning, we will hold a mini-camp for those who missed any day of camp or who want one last review before tryouts.  Saturday at noon we will begin tryouts to assign each girl to either the jv squad or the varsity squad.  Head cheerleaders will also be chosen at this time.  Register by email: cathymurdy@hotmail.com.  Register and pay by March 1st to receive a t-shirt as part of the registration.  (Include t-shirt size if registering by March 1st.)

1. Registration (Registration.pdf - please include email for Mom, Dad, and cheerleader.  Also indicate if your phone is a cell phone and if it will accept text messages.) 
2. Sports Physical (phys_eval_medical.pdf - allows you to fill in electronically and print) Highly recommended but not required.
3. Medical and Liability Release (Medical Consent Form and Liability Release Agreement.pdf)
4. Copy of Medical insurance card
5. Read the Rules and sign and return page 5 (Rules.pdf ) ( Please read "son" as "daughter" on page 4, and "player" as "cheerleader" on page 5)

Fees - $255 (Deadline is June 26 so we can put in an order for uniforms.  Make check payable to Cathy Murdy.)
